Going Solo conference : nice shot !

Vendredi dernier (16 mai) j’assistais à la première conférence Going Solo organisée par Stéphanie Booth. Ça se déroulait à Lausanne, dans l’hôtel Albatros Navigation du quartier Ouchy avec une jolie vue sur le Lac.
Le but de cette journée était le partage d’expériences entre Freelances : mission accomplie ! la journée a été riche d’enseignements et d’informations sur le métier de Freelance. Je parlerai plus en détail du contenu de la conférence dans de futurs billets, mais vous pouvez déjà aller voir les vidéos des interventions sur Dailymotion, et la transcription textuelle est dispo sur le blog de Suw Charman-Anderson.
A titre personnel, mis à part le contenu très riche des interventions, ce qui m’a le plus marqué est la dimension internationale qui entourait l’ensemble de la conférence : des intervenants, et des participants venant du monde entier, parlant plusieurs langues, travaillant dans plusieurs pays, et blogguant en Anglais. En résumé : pour eux les frontières n’existent pas… donc pas de limites…
Ça m’a fait réaliser que ça n’est pas mon cas : je travaille en France, en majorité avec des Français, des entreprises Françaises (souvent très en retard techniquement, surtout en ce qui concerne le Web)… et je bloggue en Français (d’ailleurs quel est le mot français pour “blogguer” ?)… Bref, je ne m’adresse qu’à une infime partie du monde du Web, enfermé dans une sorte de système franco-français, il faut bien le dire, un peu hermétique au reste du monde… Or le Web, c’est le contraire : c’est l’ouverture sur le monde… C’est pourquoi Je dois corriger ça : ce billet sera donc mon premier billet en Français et en Anglais… 
Pour ceux que ça intéresse, la prochaine conférence est déjà prévue : ça se passera à Leeds en Angleterre, le 12 Septembre 2008.
Personnellement j’ai déjà réservé la date dans mon calendrier…

Last Friday (May 16th) I was participating to the first Going Solo conference organised by Stéphanie Booth. It took place in Lausanne, in the Albatros Navigation Hotel (Ouchy arbor block), just in front of the lake.
The main goal of the day was about sharing experiences on Freelancing : well done ! This day was full of interesting lessons and information on Freelancing and Freelances’ world. I will post more details on the content of the conference later but you already have access to the videos on Dailymotion, and the content transcription is available on Suw Charman-Anderson’s blog.
In addition of all the valuable and useful information I gather during this day, I was surprised by the international level of the conference : all the speakers, and a lot of attendees where coming from all over the world, working in several countries, blogging in English. For them : no borders, no limits.
I realized that it’s not the case for me : I work in France, mostly with french people, in French companies (sometimes technically late on Web technologies)… and I blog in French… trapped in a french-to-french system, and talking only to a small part of the web… But by definition the Web is exactly the contrary : opened to the world… That’s why this post will be my first post in French and English…
If you are interested, the next Going Solo conference is planned in September 12th in Leeds (England).
I already booked my day to go there…
